Model Fertility Schedules Revisited: The Log-Multiplicative Model Approach
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper reconsiders Coale and Trussell’s (1974) specification of model fertility schedules by age. It formally presents model fertility schedules within the framework of categorical data analysis. Specifically, births are assumed to follow an independent Poisson distribution for each age interval of each population. Identification and estimation problems are discussed. It shows that the Coale-Trussell specification corresponds to Goodman’s (1979) fog-multiplicative model. Following Goodman’s algorithm, the paper simultaneously estimates Coale and Trussell’s u (age), m, and M through an iterative maximum likelihood procedure. This is demonstrated with the same data that were used in Coale and Trussell’s article. The new estimates are superior to those of Coale and Trussell according to an array of conventional goodness-of-fit criteria. 0 lwl Academic Press, Inc.

Simulation of Yield Decline as a Result of Water Stress Using BUDGET Model
In this paper, to account for the effect of water stresses in the various growth stages under deficitirrigation, the multiplicative, seasonal and minimal approaches are integrated in the BUDGETmodel. To evaluate the model, the simulated yields for winter wheat (was grown in Sharif Abaddistrict) under various levels of water stress were compared with observed yields. The resultshowed, simulated ...
متن کاملMaritime Transportation, Environmental Pollution, and Economic Growth in Iran: Using Dynamic Log Linear Model and Granger Causality Approach
The main purpose of this study is to estimate the maritime transportation elasticities of the environmental pollution and economic growth in Iran within the short-run and long-run to find out the relationships among maritime transportation, environmental pollution and economic growth. The lagged endogenous model (a dynamic log-linear model that we used) is estimated using two distinctive ...
متن کاملInflation Behavior in Top Sukuk Issuing Countries: Using a Bayesian Log-linear Model
This paper focused on developing a model to study the effect of sukuk issuance on the inflation rate in top sukuk issuing Islamic economies at 2014. For this purpose, as the available sample size is small, a Bayesian approach to regression model is used which contains key supply and demand side factors in addition to the outstanding sukuk volume as potential determinants of inflation rate...
متن کاملHigh level Ab inito bench mark computaions on weak interactions (H2)2 dimer revisited
The Potential Energy Surface PES of (H2)2 dimer has been investigated, using five simple rigid rotor models. These models are called: head to head, symmetric side to side, L , steplike and T model. All calculations were done at two levels of ab initio methods: MP2(Full) and QCISD (T,Full) using cc-pVTZ basis set at singlet state of spin multiplicity. The results of scanning PES were then fitte...
متن کاملA New Method for Improving Computational Cost of Open Information Extraction Systems Using Log-Linear Model
Information extraction (IE) is a process of automatically providing a structured representation from an unstructured or semi-structured text. It is a long-standing challenge in natural language processing (NLP) which has been intensified by the increased volume of information and heterogeneity, and non-structured form of it. One of the core information extraction tasks is relation extraction wh...
